Teaching experience
Emmeline is an enthusiastic and accomplished tutor specialising in the study of English Literature, English Language and Creative Writing.
She began tutoring at the age of 18 for her peers studying A Level English and after graduating, took on two long-term students (ages 9 and 11) for the period of a year while also nannying. Recently, she aided the successful application of a student’s entrance to study English at Wadham College, Oxford.
She has a sustained history of working in the charity sector with children of refugee and asylum seek status, for example with the charity Compass Collective as a tutor in songwriting. She specialises in the study of essay writing and close analysis, and has completed various creative writing courses, for example most recently with Faber Academy in poetry. She is a mentor to several women who have experience domestic or situational trauma via the programme ‘Inspiring Leadership Foundation’ and cares greatly about working individually with students to access their specific learning styles.

Fonie is a journalist and writer; she spends all her time either writing or discovering things to write about. Most of her social life entails attending or participating in literary readings or launches. She is always reading upwards of five books, making them compete for her attention (her track record for completion is wanting). She also loves reading longform articles, as well as new literary and art magazines, exposing her to emerging talent.
Extracurricular interests
Emmeline is a freelance writer and musician, originally from West Yorkshire, now living in London. She writes part-time for the music journal The Line of Best Fit and has also had work published in The Bedford Review, The London Magazine and Wonderland. She’s currently working on a book proposal with United Agents but loves to perform, and has had experience in presenting at Hay-On-Wye Literature Festival, Poetry Live and Out-Spoken. Within a strong lyrical as well as literary ability Emmeline is also a working musician, having most recently signed to indie hip-hop label Lewis Recordings, opened-up for The Streets on tour, and played the global emerging music festival SXW in Austin, Texas.
