Teaching experience
Lamise is a dedicated and passionate English educator with a BA in Theology, Religion and Culture from King's College London and a Cambridge CELTA. Having thrived within the UK's independent school system herself at both Downe House and Francis Holland, she possesses an innate understanding of its academic expectations and ethos, allowing her to provide insightful and empathetic guidance tailored to each student's journey.
Lamise has taught children aged 3-18, as well as adult learners. She is intensely well-versed in the requirements of U.K. Independent School and public examinations; and she has invaluable classroom-based teaching experience from her time in Hong Kong, where she attained her CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) qualification. During her time in Hong Kong, Lamise helped students of a variety of abilities to master grammar, lexis, and phonemes. Teaching international students for whom English is a second language continues to be one of her passions and specialisms.
Lamise believes in fostering a genuine love for learning by drawing out each student's unique voice and intellectual curiosity, building confidence alongside core academic skills. An avid traveller with a richly multi-cultural family background of her own, Lamise naturally cultivates an inclusive, internationally-minded learning environment, where cultural awareness is seamlessly woven into lessons. She is committed to being an academically rigorous yet engaging mentor who inspires ambition, articulate expression, and lifelong intellectual curiosity.
