Teaching Experience

Leah began teaching in 2018 whilst still in sixth form being encouraged to do so by her teachers in school programmes, she then established herself as a private tutor and has since amassed more than 300 hours of one on one and group tutoring experience.

Leah prides herself on having helped many students attain their place at Oxford and Cambridge through rigorous mock interviews, personal statement reviewing, mentorship and securing their A*s at A-Level. She has also helped students receive offers from the best art colleges in the UK, such as Central Saint Martins through portfolio review and mentorship. She is particularly proud of her impressive admissions track record across both state schools and private schools.

Playful and curious, Leah has a broad range of experience in working with students as young as 11, to undergraduate students; she focuses on inspiring confidence, with the hope that eventually the students will no longer need her guidance but trust their own lead. She specialises in honing in on essay structures, revision techniques and presentation skills to ensure a well-rounded approach to establishing confidence in a student, making examinations seem less daunting, by practicing past papers routinely. Leah listens carefully to student’s worries and weaknesses, and provides a tailored approach to learning based on student needs. Her methods thus far have secured her students their places at university, and their respective offers alike, with impressive results at A-Levels and GCSE.

Testimonials

“Leah helped my daughter Amelia rewrite her personal statement for her UCAS application in Classics and she was brilliant. She carefully crafted the statement to bolster Amelia’s existing efforts in the subject, carefully weaving in current political issues and directing Amelia to current relevant texts and essays on the subjects she was currently researching. Since meeting Leah, Amelia has really come into herself, seeming a lot more positive, confident and proactive with the application process and maturing into her own interests and discipline. Leah was also particularly helpful in establishing some next steps for Amelia, whilst waiting to hear back from the offers and provided access points for further learning and research. I am thankful for Leah helping Amelia find her feet in the process, and providing a calming presence throughout.” - Mother of a UCAS applicant”

“Leah has been an excellent support to our 12 year old son in bolstering his confidence in arts and culture. Delivering him diverse art sessions in which she has taught him monoprinting, pastels, portraiture, charcoal, ink, paint and printing, our son thoroughly enjoys his sessions with Leah, seeming much more at ease and playful after his lessons. He also has enjoyed some trips with Leah to local art galleries such as the V&A in which she has given him drawing tours of the work, being an RCA Postgraduate student she is very in the know of seasonal exciting exhibitions with which to engage him. She is a great addition to his education.” - Parents of a Year 8 student.

“Leah has been a great support to me whilst applying to B.A. courses in Art this year, going through with me and tailoring each portfolio to the institution. Being an artist herself, she is aware of all the protocols and procedures for formulating a professional portfolio for submitting to clients, and helped me refine my captions while curating and bringing forth certain themes throughout my diverse body of work. She was a comforting presence to have throughout an otherwise stressful period. Now that the applications have been swiftly submitted, Leah is my tutor for the rest of my Art UAL Foundation Diploma, helping me write the essays, and tailor artist responses so as not to lose any marks by keeping a close eye on the marking criteria. She always comes to the lessons with new ideas, new mediums, and is quick to hear, repeat and unpack the ideas I tell her, and develop these concepts both through art and writing. I am super thankful to have her around.” - UAL Foundation Student.
